Nadiika joined the family when she was just two years old. Her future parents saw her incredible smile—and their hearts were instantly filled with warmth and love. At that time, the Omelchenko family already had two biological children and two adopted ones. Nadiika became the fifth child to whom they gave parental care, support, and love.

When the girl became part of the family, no one could have imagined that such a bright and cheerful child could have a serious illness. Over time, however, the parents noticed that Nadiika became tired very quickly. They turned to doctors—and heard news that became a great trial:

“Your daughter needs surgery. She has an atrioventricular septal defect.”

The surgery lasted five hours. Five long, tense hours during which the parents and the entire family prayed for the little girl’s life and health.

When the doctors came out of the operating room and reported that Nadiika was doing well and that she was an exceptionally strong child, the parents could not hold back tears of joy. The medical team explained what a difficult path the girl had overcome and how courageously she had fought.

Nadiika dreams of being healthy and happy. And one day—of creating a big family of her own, just as loving and warm as the one she is growing up in now.
