When Khrystyna was born, her mother didn’t even have time to hold her close. Doctors immediately took the baby to the Amosov Institute — every minute mattered. The diagnosis: hypoplasia of the right heart chambers. A congenital defect that required three complex surgeries to give her a chance at life.

The first surgery came just three days after birth. Tiny, fragile, yet already so strong, Khrystyna endured this difficult trial. After three weeks in the hospital, she was finally allowed to go home. Every six months followed with check-ups — anxiety, hope, and prayers.

At three years old came the second surgery. Once again — hospital walls, recovery, and adjustment. But Khrystyna grew up to be a kind, sincere, and incredibly creative child. She painted, sang, danced, studied math and English, and dreamed big.

Then came 2024 — the culmination of her fight. At fourteen, doctors scheduled the third and final surgery. It lasted more than eight hours. Her mother was beside herself with worry, and when she finally heard the long-awaited words, “Everything went well!”, she could breathe freely for the first time in years.

Today, Khrystyna is a joyful young girl who loves makeup and dreams of becoming a professional makeup artist. She already practices on her mom and friends, bringing her first creative ideas to life. There is still rehabilitation and regular medical monitoring ahead, but most importantly — she can live a full life.
