2.5 million hryvnias worth of medical equipment for children’s hospital in Lviv

International Credit Agricole Group has recently donated nearly UAH 2.5.million worth of medical equipment, namely NIRS monitor, 17 infusion pumps and phototherapy lamp, to pediatric cardiac surgery department of St. Nicholas Hospital in Lviv. It is the first cardiac surgery intensive care unit in western Ukraine, where children with critical heart defects can be operated on within hours after birth. This good deed was implemented jointly with Your Support charity fund.

According to doctors, the new equipment will give a chance at life to even more newborn patients. For instance, during complex cardiac interventions in children, the NIRS monitor will offer precise information on how efficiently the brain tissues obtain oxygen, which is crucial for doctors in the course of their work.

The number of patients with difficult conditions is growing and previously we were forced to borrow monitors from other departments. The new equipment will enable us to expand the range of complicated surgeries. Now we receive many patients with hypoplastic left heart syndrome, which requires truly sophisticated heart surgery, extremely accurate monitoring and exceedingly precise technique in order to offer the little ones their chance at life, — shares Olha Pasternak, doctor at the ICU of cardiac surgery department at St. Nicholas Hospital in Lviv.

As for the infusion pumps, they serve for continuous administering of medications to children in very precise dosages so as not to overload the child’s heart after the surgery. Among other equipment, donated by the bank, there is also a phototherapy lamp used for treating jaundice in the newborn babies.

Since the outbreak of the war, Credit Agricole allocated UAH 97 million for charity, in particular to help the hospitals.

We focus our effort on supporting medical institutions, as we now see the great need in new modern equipment that will be used to save children’s lives. Credit Agricole and our team wholeheartedly believe in being where we are needed the most, help those who need it the most. Children are our future that we strive to nurture. We make efforts to invest in health, well-being and happiness of our nation, — comments Ostap Pudliak, Director of Commercial Sector at Credit Agricole Bank
