This pregnancy was awaited by the young parents with immense excitement. They imagined holding their baby boy, watching his first steps, and hearing his first “mama” and “tato.” All tests and screenings were normal, and they eagerly prepared to welcome little Yevhen into the world.

But after his birth, doctors heard wheezing in the baby’s chest. They advised consulting a cardiologist, suspecting complications from a recent illness. The parents could never have imagined what they would hear — a congenital heart defect. The diagnosis: coarctation of the aorta — a narrowing of the heart’s main artery that prevents the body from receiving enough oxygen.

Surgery was urgently required.
Three hours in the operating room. Three hours of struggle. Three hours of hope.
The entire time, his parents couldn’t find peace, waiting for the doctors’ words. And when they finally heard, “Everything went well,” tears of relief filled their eyes.

After the surgery, his mother was able to feed her little hero for the first time. He was calm — as if he understood that the worst was behind him. And when he was moved to the ward, it became clear — he had changed. His eyes sparkled, his smile grew wider, and his tiny heart now beat evenly and confidently.

Today, Yevhen is still very small and doesn’t yet know what he’ll become when he grows up. But the most important thing is that his life is no longer in danger. And by his side will always be his loving parents, ready to support him in every choice.
