A Heart That Beats at Full Strength Again

A Heart That Beats at Full Strength Again

The pregnancy went smoothly. All tests showed no signs of concern. When newborn Polina was discharged from the maternity ward, everything seemed perfectly fine. But during her very first routine checkup, the pediatrician heard a heart murmur. That was the beginning of a long journey — examinations, consultations, tests…

And at the end of 2024, came the diagnosis that changed everything: Tetralogy of Fallot — a complex congenital heart defect.

This diagnosis combines four severe anatomical abnormalities, and without surgery, a child cannot live a full life. Polina was referred to the Amosov Institute, where doctors performed an extremely complicated operation — a radical correction of the heart defect.

Seven hours of fighting for the little girl’s life.
And — victory!

Today, Polina runs, jumps, and plays doctor, “treating” all her toys with care.

Her mother looks at her with tenderness and says:

“I want her to become a doctor — like those who saved her life.”

And we are truly happy to be part of this story.

Polina’s parents are deeply grateful to Lancôme for providing all the necessary medications during and after the surgery at the Amosov Institute.

The girl’s treatment took place within the framework of the “Big Little Heart” project by the Tvoya Opora Charitable Foundation, dedicated to St. Nicholas Day 2024.

Thank you to everyone who supports our foundation — it’s thanks to you that children’s hearts keep beating. You can support the “Big Little Heart” project at the link below.
