This was Mrs. Daria’s third pregnancy, which turned out to be extremely difficult. Until the 17th week, she suffered from severe toxicosis, was constantly under medical supervision, and faced a risk of miscarriage. Fortunately, over time, her condition stabilized. However, later she severely burned her leg, which required surgery and long-term use of blood-thinning medication — right up until childbirth.
Nazarchyk was born in the 40th week. The doctors examined him and assured the parents that everything was fine and no abnormalities were detected. The baby grew and developed just like any other child.
When it came time to undergo a medical check-up before entering kindergarten, doctors detected a heart murmur. Shocked by the news, the parents decided to consult specialists in Vinnytsia. Unfortunately, the diagnosis was confirmed — Nazarchyk was found to have a secundum atrial septal defect. The doctors advised them to go to the Amosov Institute for a detailed examination and surgery.
Without delay, the family went to Kyiv. After additional tests, the doctors scheduled the date of the operation. The parents were deeply affected by what they heard, as no cardiologist had ever noticed any abnormalities before. They were told that such a defect often shows no symptoms: due to a small hole, blood from the left atrium flows into the right one, increasing the load on the heart and lungs.
The surgery lasted three hours. During that time, the family anxiously waited for news and prayed for their little boy. Finally, the doctor came out and said the words they longed to hear: the operation was successful, and Nazarchyk was doing well.
The little boy recovered quickly — now nothing threatens his life. He is still very young but already dreams of becoming a firefighter to save the lives of others.
Thanks to the joint project of the “Tvoya Opora” Foundation and the Guzema Jewelry brand — Charity Chain, Nazar received all the necessary medications and medical supplies during his treatment.
And our reliable partner, Credit Agricole Ukraine, generously provided the vital drug Custodiol free of charge for his open-heart surgery.
