A Heart Born to Win

Ms. Natalia had dreamed of the birth of Vaniusha for a very long time—even before he was born, she already knew what she would name her son. When she learned about her pregnancy, she was incredibly happy: she diligently visited all the required doctors, attended consultations and examinations, and all the results were good.

After Vania was born, his mother was filled with joy. Unfortunately, this happiness did not last long. Ms. Natalia began to notice that her son became tired quickly, ate poorly, and was not gaining weight. When he cried, bluish spots appeared on his skin and then disappeared. This caused great concern, and she immediately sought medical help.

After examinations, Vania was diagnosed with a complete atrioventricular septal defect. Without delay, Ms. Natalia packed their belongings and traveled with her son to Kyiv, where additional tests were conducted at the Amosov Institute and a surgery date was scheduled.

The surgery lasted more than three hours. For the mother, those were endless moments—she paced back and forth, unable to find peace.

When Ms. Natalia was allowed to enter the intensive care unit after the surgery and see her son, she was overwhelmed with relief and happiness. Little Vaniusha endured such a complex procedure at such a young age—he is a true fighter.

As the boy is still too young to speak about his dream, his mother has one most important wish: that her son be healthy and happy. And she will always be by his side, supporting him every step of the way.

Vania’s family expresses their deep gratitude to the Lancôme brand for supporting them during this difficult period. Thanks to this assistance, it was possible to provide all the necessary medications and treatment materials—this became a true gift.

This support was provided within the framework of the “Big Little Heart” project for St. Nicholas Day in 2024.
