The expectant mother learned about the congenital heart defect at the 20th week of pregnancy. That day divided life into “before” and “after.” The doctors’ words sounded frightening and heavy, and her heart tightened with pain and uncertainty. It was hard to accept the news, hard not to lose faith, hard not to break. But the family did not give up. They chose to fight—for life, for the future, for a little heart that was only just beginning its journey.
When Viktor was born, he immediately proved to be a true fighter. He underwent his first surgery right away and was later referred to the Amosov Heart Institute, where doctors conducted a series of examinations and performed a complex operation to treat congenital tricuspid valve atresia—a severe defect that prevents the heart from functioning properly.
Viktor is only three months old. He is so small, yet incredibly strong. Every day he shows that strength is measured not by age, but by the will to live. His mother loves looking into his big, deep blue eyes—so much like his father’s, who is now defending us in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
She dreams that her little son will grow up as brave and strong as his father. She imagines the day when Viktor becomes a police officer—someone who protects, defends, and stands guard over life.
Viktor’s surgery and treatment became possible thanks to the generous support of the Lancôme brand, which helped the family at their most difficult moment. It was this support that ensured the provision of all necessary materials and medications.
The assistance was provided within the framework of the “Big Little Heart” project for St. Nicholas Day 2024—a project that gives children not just help, but the most precious gift of all: a chance at a life filled with light, hope, and a future.
