On September 28, the Kind Hearts Run charity event took place at Bucha City Park, organized by the Tvoya Opora Charitable Foundation to mark World Heart Day. The goal of the event was to support children with congenital heart defects and help doctors save their lives.
Thanks to the participants and partners, the event raised ₴4.8 million, which was used to purchase a modern mobile X-ray machine for the Children’s Intensive Care Unit at the Amosov National Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine. The device has already been purchased and delivered to the hospital — soon it will assist doctors in their daily work with the youngest patients.
A Run That United Kind Hearts
The event brought together over 500 guests, including nearly 300 runners who took part in various race distances. For many families, it became not just a sporting event but also a heartfelt opportunity to contribute to a noble cause.
“Today we are implementing various initiatives and promoting a culture of charity by engaging entire families to spend time together while helping save children’s lives. The most important thing about Kind Hearts Run is not only the funds raised, but also the attention it brings to the issue of congenital heart defects. Unity and collective action truly shape the future of our country. A special thank you goes to our general partner, Novus, for making the largest contribution — over ₴4.7 million toward the purchase of equipment,”
— said Valeria Tatarchuk, founder of the Tvoya Opora Foundation.
Saving Children’s Hearts
Every year in Ukraine, around 3,500 children are born with congenital heart defects. With timely diagnosis and surgery, 99% of them can live full, healthy lives. However, hundreds of newborns each year still do not receive the urgent medical care they need.
“A modern mobile X-ray machine is a critically important tool in our daily work. It allows us to promptly examine young patients in critical condition. This is more than just equipment — it’s a chance for life,”
emphasized Serhiy Siromakha, Deputy Director for Clinical and Organizational Affairs at the Amosov Institute.
The new X-ray system will enable doctors to quickly diagnose critical patients in intensive care, minimize radiation exposure, provide high-quality digital imaging connected to the PACS system, and ultimately increase the chances that every small heart keeps beating.
World Heart Day — A Global Reminder
Every year on September 29, the world observes World Heart Day, an initiative of the World Heart Federation and the World Health Organization to raise awareness about cardiovascular disease prevention. These diseases claim about 19.8 million lives globally each year, yet up to 80% of cases are preventable through awareness and healthy lifestyles.
“The specialists at the Amosov Institute are among the best in the world. But even the best doctors need modern equipment. That’s why we encourage Ukrainians to continue supporting them and doing good deeds. Every contribution is a chance for another little heart,”
added Valeria Tatarchuk.
More Than a Run
Kind Hearts Run is more than just a sporting event — it is a symbol of love, care, and unity, showing how collective compassion can save hundreds of lives.
