The pregnancy went smoothly: the mother attended all necessary ultrasounds and tests on time, and the results were normal. The birth also went well, and little Lesia was born. However, during discharge, the doctors heard a heart murmur in the baby and advised the parents to consult a cardiologist.
The parents immediately followed the advice. After an examination, the cardiologist confirmed the suspicion of a heart defect, which greatly alarmed the family. To verify the diagnosis, the parents decided to go to Vinnytsia for further tests. The doctors recommended monitoring the baby’s condition, helping her gain weight, and returning for a follow-up examination when Lesia turned six months old.
When their daughter turned six months, the parents went back to Vinnytsia. After the next check-up, the doctors informed them that Lesia needed to be taken to the Amosov Institute for surgery.
Soon, Lesia completed all the necessary tests, and a surgery date was set.
The operation lasted over three hours. During that time, the parents were on edge — praying that everything would go well. Finally, the wonderful news came — the surgery was successful.
The surgeons explained that the baby had her ventricular septal defect repaired and assured the parents that now Lesia would be able to live a full and healthy life.
The parents dream that their daughter will grow up to become an outstanding doctor who saves lives, just as hers was once saved.
Thanks to the joint project of the Tvoya Opora Foundation and the Guzema Jewelry brand — Charity Chain, little Lesia received all the necessary medications and medical supplies during her treatment.
Our reliable partner, Credit Agricole Ukraine, generously provided the vital drug Custodiol free of charge for her open-heart surgery.
