Two surgeries on the path to a healthy heart.

Yurko is the third youngest child in a very close-knit family. After being born in 2020, the boy was diagnosed with Tetralogy of Fallot. Almost immediately, he underwent surgery and had a shunt placed to support normal heart function. According to doctors, everything went well, but they recommended a follow-up visit in a year.

Unfortunately, the symptoms of the illness soon returned: the boy began to tire quickly, cyanosis appeared under his nose, and heart murmurs were heard. Therefore, the family sought help from doctors.

The second surgery was performed in 2021 at the M.M. Amosov National Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery. It lasted six hours and was performed on the child's open heart. Yurko's defect and shunt were removed, and patch plasty and atrial septal defect plasty were also performed.

Our hero tolerated the surgery well and was transferred from the intensive care unit to a regular ward after only a few days.

The boy's second surgery was performed within the framework of the "Big Little Heart" project. It was a radical surgery, so no further surgeries will be needed. However, medical supervision is necessary: preventive check-ups and all necessary examinations must be performed on time, as the boy has a disability.

We were able to help Yurko receive all the necessary medications and medical supplies during his stay at the Amosov Institute thanks to #Charity_chain - a joint project of the "Tvoya opora" Foundation and the Gusema Jewerly brand. And our foundation's project with Synevo helped provide the drug "Custodiol," the use of which is extremely necessary during open-heart surgery.
