The anticipation of Oleksiy's arrival was filled with joy and excitement. The mother's pregnancy progressed smoothly, all indicators were normal, and the baby developed according to all standards. Therefore, the news of potential heart problems in the boy just before the birth came as a complete shock to the expectant mother. All that remained was to wait for Lyosha's birth to clarify everything definitively.
Finally, the little one was born! After a thorough examination, the doctors advised the family to contact the M.M. Amosov National Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery in three months, when the boy would grow a little and gain strength. However, the mother brought the little one for examination earlier. Unfortunately, the echocardiography confirmed the presence of a congenital defect. Oleksiy was diagnosed with two conditions at once — Tetralogy of Fallot and total anomalous pulmonary venous drainage. The boy underwent urgent surgery. The operation was not complicated — the surgeons widened the vessels in our hero's heart. Oleksiy had to be kept in intensive care for another week and a half: the doctors were forced to prescribe antibiotic treatment to fight the infection, reduce swelling, and relieve pain. The boy spent another week in the Institute's department under medical supervision to gain strength before discharge.
It has been a month since the little one has been recovering and gaining strength at home.
Thanks to #Charity_chain, a joint project of the "Tvoya opora" charitable foundation and the Guzema Jewelry brand, all the necessary medications and medical supplies were provided during Oleksiy's stay in the hospital and intensive care.
Also, with the support of singer and influencer Diana Gloster, our ward received the extremely necessary drug "Custodiol" for open-heart surgery.
Within the framework of the "Big Little Heart" project, we provided assistance to another child with a congenital heart defect! Doctors are not yet giving any prognoses regarding the need for repeated surgeries in the future, and we very much hope for a speedy recovery.
