One hundred days within the walls of the Amosov Institute are more than a simple measure of time. They are one hundred days of anxiety, faith, and boundless love. Little Daniil has walked a path not everyone could endure: four complex heart surgeries, fear and waiting, pain and hope. And today, the most important thing is that all of this is now behind him.
Thanks to the professionalism of the doctors and the team of the Department of Surgical Treatment of Congenital Heart Defects in Newborns and Young Children, the boy’s life was saved. For Daniil, these doctors became true guardian angels.
His mother, Viktoriia, learned of her son’s severe diagnosis only when he was three months old. From that moment on, their lives changed forever. For four months, mother and son have lived in hospital wards, where every day begins with prayer and hope and ends with faith in tomorrow.
Atrioventricular communication—a complex congenital heart defect—sounds like a cold medical term. But behind these words is a tiny heart that fought for the right to keep beating. And it endured.
Today, Daniil smiles, breathes freely, and takes his first steps toward a normal, happy childhood. This story also became possible thanks to the generous support of the Lancôme brand, which stood by the family at their most difficult moment by providing the necessary medications and materials for treatment.
The assistance was provided within the framework of the “Big Little Heart” project for St. Nicholas Day 2024—a project that gives children not just a chance to recover, but a chance at a life filled with light, warmth, and a future.
Because sometimes, one saved little heart is an entire universe.
