Help the children's psychiatric department

Every day, the war leaves children invisible wounds. Explosions, displacement, the loss of loved ones, constant anxiety — all of it becomes a heavy burden on a child's mind. The number of mental and behavioral disorders among children in the Kyiv region keeps rising. Anxiety, depression, sleep disturbances — this is the reality thousands of Ukrainian children and teenagers live in.

The only children's psychiatric department in the region operates within Kyiv Regional Children's Hospital. More than 3,200 children from the Kyiv region with mental and behavioral disorders are under its care, and each year the department admits over a thousand of them. In 2024 alone, 1,144 young patients received inpatient care — with diagnoses ranging from stress and neurotic disorders to schizophrenia, autism, and the severe consequences of organic brain damage.

But instead of a space for healing, children find themselves within the old walls of a building from the middle of the last century. Worn-out wards, cramped bathrooms with no accessibility, the absence of a safe environment — all of it only worsens their condition. The atmosphere a child spends weeks of treatment in affects their mind no less than the therapy itself. Walls can heal. Or they can hurt.

The "Your Support" Charitable Foundation is raising funds to renovate the building — to turn it into a space that heals rather than hurts.

What your contribution will provide:

• a sensory room in the department's outpatient unit, where a child learns to calm down without medication;
• safe, accessible bathrooms that aren't frightening to enter;
• bright wards instead of cold walls;
• psychological support rooms and the equipment the department lacks every day.

Every child deserves to be treated in conditions of warmth, safety, and care. Together we can turn this old building into a place where not only the body heals, but the soul as well.
