A Miracle for Nadiia

A Miracle for Nadiia

Evelinka was born on January 30, 2024 — a healthy, happy, radiant baby girl. A true miracle for her mother, Nadiia.
Her pregnancy had been flawless: she felt great, all tests showed normal fetal development, and the birth went smoothly.
The first monthly pediatrician visits quickly became routine for both the young mom and her rosy-cheeked baby. Evelinka was gaining weight and developing well.

But one day, Nadiia’s world turned upside down.
It was just a routine check-up. Evelinka was 4.5 months old, and her mother was eager to finish quickly and head out for a spring walk.
But during the exam, the pediatrician paused, his expression changed — he had heard an unusual murmur in the baby's heart.
The very next day, Nadiia rushed to the central hospital in Mukachevo.
And then — her worst fears were confirmed.
Doctors diagnosed Evelinka with a congenital heart defectaortic coarctation.
This meant her aorta, the main vessel that carries oxygen-rich blood from the left ventricle to the body, was narrowed.
Evelinka urgently needed surgery — a procedure that could only be performed at the Amosov National Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery in Kyiv.

The diagnosis was a devastating blow. Evelinka, the little sunshine who was Nadiia’s whole world, now faced a fight for her life.
But Nadiia had no time to grieve — doctors made it clear: without surgery, Evelinka wouldn’t survive.
She gathered the necessary documents and test results and traveled to Kyiv without delay.

The surgery was a true trial for Nadiia. For three and a half endless hours, she could hardly breathe from the stress.
She prayed for a miracle — that her baby would survive.
And finally, the surgeon came out and said the words she longed to hear:
“The surgery was successful.”
Nadiia burst into tears. Her daughter had been given a second chance — a chance at a joyful childhood full of smiles and laughter.

Though the road ahead includes regular check-ups — and possibly another surgery — Evelinka can now breathe freely and live happily, thanks to kind and caring hearts.

This story is not only about a tiny heart’s battle for life — it’s also about faith, support, and the miracle made possible by generous people and a company that provided all the necessary medications for Evelinka’s survival.

The family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to Lancôme, whose support through the “Big Little Heart” project for St. Nicholas Day 2023 helped make this miracle happen.
